How Does a Trim Separator Work?
The Puhl trim separator consists of an inlet fitting, a curved screen, a wing, an outlet fitting, and the feed chute. Trim is conveyed by air to the inlet fitting, where the air carries the trim over the wing, accelerating the airflow as necessary for proper separation. The air then continues through the screen and outlet fitting to be returned to the plant or to a filter to remove dust from the air prior to returning it to the plant. The trim follows the curved screen and falls through the feed chute. The bottom of the separator is typically connected to the top of a feed chute to a baler but can also be connected to a transition directly to a baler, conveyor, or to another duct when the separator is used as a concentrator.
